Special Guided Tours

Highclere Castle & Exhibition

Have you purchased your tickets to the Downton Abbey Concert yet? Or for those of you in the area who want to make the most of your weekend, why not join us for an exclusive post-concert special guided tour at the real Downton Abbey.

Highclere Castle has been part of the Carnarvon family since the late seventeenth century. Whilst rich in treasure and steeped in history, Highclere retains the warmth and welcome of a much-loved family home.

On arrival, you will be welcomed into the Saloon, which is at the heart of the Castle with a 50ft high glazed ceiling, a magnificent open fire-place and a gothic style minstrel gallery.

Before you embark on your Tour, our guides will explain how they will help you explore some of the very familiar State Rooms for those of you who have loved the series "Downton Abbey"! The Tour will also take you round the Gallery and Castle Bedrooms.

Our guides have exceptional knowledge of the building, artwork and furniture with plenty of anecdotes.

After your house tour, you can then explore the Egyptian Exhibition in the atmospheric Cellars of the Castle. The Exhibition tells the story of the world-famous discovery, in 1922, of the Tomb of Tutankhamun by the 5th Earl of Carnarvon and Howard Carter.

Tickets are £120 per person which includes a guided tour of the Castle for a limited number of guests with plenty of time to view the Egyptian Exhibition, Grounds and Gardens.

Your ticket will also include complimentary refreshments served in the Coach House and a copy of the Countess of Carnarvon's book 'At Home at Highclere'.

Please select either a morning ticket, where you arrive at 10:30am departing at 1:30pm or an afternoon ticket where you arrive for 1.30pm departing at 4:30pm.

The guided tour will commence at your chosen ticket start time. Please note that the gates to the Castle and Grounds will open no more than 30 minutes prior your ticket time. The grounds close promptly at 5.30pm.

Dress code for the event is smart/casual, please wear sensible footwear for the Gardens.
