'Christmas at Highclere'
Recipes & Traditions from The Real Downton Abbey

Talk by Lady Carnarvon & Special Castle Tours
Saturday 7th December, Friday 13th December

Price: £120 per person to include a short talk about the Countess of Carnarvon's recent Christmas book, a Guided Tour of the Castle State Rooms and Gallery Bedrooms, complimentary afternoon tea-style refreshments, a copy of the book 'Christmas at Highclere' Recipes and Traditions from The Real Downton Abbey.

Guests are welcomed into the Saloon, the heart of the Castle, for a talk by Lady Carnarvon on her recent book ‘Christmas at Highclere’ and will answer any questions you may have at the end.

Following this our Highclere guides will take you on a tour through the Castle’s State Rooms, up the staircase to the Gallery and around the Gallery Bedrooms. Guests are then invited to descend to the cellars to explore at your leisure the fascinating Egyptian Exhibition that tells the story of the discovery of the tomb of Tutankhamun and contains antiquities from the earlier tombs in the Valley of the Nobles and Valley of the Queens.

Our guides have exceptional knowledge of the building, works of art and furniture with plenty of anecdotes to share with you. As you go round you will recognise the very familiar rooms which are of course also the set in which “Downton Abbey” was filmed both for TV and film.

We then hope you will enjoy a selection of afternoon tea style refreshments in the Coach House Tearooms, including the traditional finger sandwiches and scones along with other recipes from Lady Carnarvon’s Christmas book.

Please take the opportunity to visit the Castle Gift Shop and explore the Gardens if the weather permits at your own leisure. We hope you find some charming gifts for friends and family to complete your Christmas shopping.

Morning Admission begins at 10:30am for your talk, but we suggest that you arrive 30 minutes before your entry time into the Castle to be seated in the Saloon. The suggested departure time is 1:30pm.

Afternoon Admission begins at 1:30pm for your talk, but we suggest that you arrive 30 minutes before your entry time into the Castle to be seated in the Saloon. The suggested departure time is 4:30pm.
