Exclusive Preview Evening

Lord and Lady Carnarvon are delighted to welcome a limited number guests for a very special and exclusive ‘preview’ evening at Highclere Castle during the evening of Friday 4^th October 2024 ahead of our annual Highclere Festival Weekend.

Join Lord and Lady Carnarvon in the Saloon, at the very heart of the Castle where you will enjoy a reception of Champagne and canapés, before embarking on a guided tour of the State Rooms and Gallery Bedrooms, led by one of our knowledgeable guides.

Imagine yourself as the Dowager Countess in the Drawing Room or walk down the Oak Staircase just like Lady Mary or Lord Grantham.

Highclere is also more than just a star of the silver screen through its alter ego, there is a fascinating collection of art and furniture, from Napoleon’s desk in the Music Room to the portrait of Charles I by Anthony van Dyck in the Dining Room.

You are also invited to descend down into our cellars, as you discover our Egyptian Exhibition.

Each guest will receive a gift bag to take home on the evening, specially designed by Lady Carnarvon.

Further to this wonderful Friday evening event, as detailed above, we also invite you to be our guests on Saturday 5^th October, as we are delighted to welcome you back to Highclere the following day to enjoy the outdoor event.

Within the grounds there will be living history re-enactors, 1940s swing dancing, live vintage musical performances as they sing 1940s classics from our music canopy, and insightful discussions led by some of the Highclere team.

Tickets are £250 per person which includes:

•    Champagne and Canapé Reception with Lord and Lady Carnarvon

•    A guided tour of the Castle State Rooms and Gallery Bedrooms

•    An opportunity to visit the Egyptian Exhibition

•    A wonderful gift bag

•    ‘Event Only’ tickets to return the following day to attend the Highclere Festival event within the Gardens on Saturday 5^th October

Please note, there is no concessions rate or children’s tickets available for this special event.

Event Schedule:

Friday 4th October 2024:

•    The Grounds and Gardens will open at 4:30pm.
•    Guests are welcomed into the Castle at 5:00pm for the Reception.
•    The Grounds and Gates will close at 7:30pm.
•    Dress Code: Smart (suggested suits and cocktail dresses).

Saturday 5th October 2024:

•    You are welcome onsite to explore the all-day event within the Gardens from 10am – 5pm.
•    Please note that access to the Castle is not included on the Saturday, but you will receive a guided tour of the Castle on the Friday evening.
•    Please wear sensible footwear for exploring the Gardens.

We will have a variety of Canapés to suit all tastes, including Vegetarian options served throughout the evening.
