Afternoon Tea FAQs

Do I need to pre-book Afternoon Tea?

Yes, tickets for Afternoon Tea must be pre-booked. You can either book seats for Afternoon Tea immediately after purchasing your public opening admission tickets or you can purchase some time later, subject to availability. You will be given an opportunity to pre-check the availability of tables for Afternoon Tea before proceeding with your purchase of admission tickets.

Is Afternoon Tea available on each day of public opening?

Afternoon Tea will be available on each day of our Summer Public Opening season this year.

If I have purchased a family or child admission ticket, am I able to book Afternoon Tea?

Regretfully, families and child tickets cannot be accommodated at the Afternoon Tea, and therefore if you have purchased a family or child ticket, Afternoon Tea tickets will not be available. Afternoon Tea is available to adult tickets only at this time.

Are my Afternoon Tea tickets posted to me?

Tickets are not posted. Upon purchase, an e-Ticket will be produced and sent via email to the email address which you entered when you registered on our website. You will need to bring this ticket with you on the day of your visit, along with your admission ticket(s). Your tickets will also be saved into your ‘Order History’ in your Account on our website, available to access at any time up until your visit.

Where is the Afternoon Tea served?

Your 'Afternoon Tea' will be served in one of our designated locations in order to comply with social distancing requirements. You will be shown to one of the following: The Coach House, The Buttery or The Afternoon Tea Marquee. Please make your way to The Coach House, which is situated in the Courtyard at the rear of the Castle just before your allocated tea time and a member of the Afternoon Tea team will seat your party in one of the above locations.

Do you have disabled seating?

Yes, we have limited seating on the ground floor of the Coach House Tea Rooms for disabled visitors. We do offer discounted rates tickets for disabled visitors, and we also offer free entrance to the Castle for necessary carers but this does not include Afternoon Tea.

If I have booked for the wrong date, can my ticket be transferred or refunded?

These tickets are non-transferable and non-refundable, so please do make sure you are certain of the date you wish to visit prior to purchase.

If I have a large group booking of more than 6 people, can I book tickets for the Admission and Afternoon Tea?

We only have limited space in our Afternoon Tea designated locations and, therefore, can only seat a table of up to 6 people, subject to availability. If you were to book more than 6 tickets, please note that you may not all be seated together.

Does the Afternoon Tea cater for dietary requirements?

We have three menus available. This includes our Standard menu, as well as Gluten Free and Vegetarian options. These are set menus, and cannot be altered to cater for additional dietary requirements or preferences. Therefore, we kindly ask that you view the menu prior to purchasing your ticket, to make sure you are happy with the selection given.

Is there a vegan option for Afternoon Tea?

Regretfully, at this time, we are unable to offer a vegan Afternoon Tea.

Can I mix items from the Standard Menu with the Gluten Free or Vegetarian Menu?

No, the menus are separate set menus and items cannot be mixed from one menu to another at this time.

If Afternoon Tea is fully booked, are there other areas for me to enjoy refreshments during my visit?

Yes, we have Tea Rooms on site that will be serving refreshments throughout the day to include cream teas, light lunches and hot food (served between 12noon-2pm).
