Living with a Film Crew. April 2024

Living with a Film Crew

In conversation with Lady Carnarvon
& Castle Guided Tours

Adult Tickets £140
Carer Tickets £85

The ticket includes the talk, a guided tour of the Castle, a selection of homemade food with time to enjoy the Gardens and Egyptian Exhibition and a signed book by Lady Carnarvon.

Gather in the Saloon for a conversation led by Lady Carnarvon about life at Highclere Castle and, of course, living with a film crew. You will have time to ask all the questions you have been pondering!

After this, our knowledgeable guides will take you on a tour through the Castle’s State Rooms, up the Great Oak Staircase and around the Gallery Bedrooms. Our guides have exceptional knowledge of the building, works of art and furniture with plenty of anecdotes to share with you.

As you continue your tour around the Castle, you will recognise familiar rooms, used in both the Downton Abbey series and films.

Guests are then invited to descend to the cellars to explore, at your leisure, the fascinating Egyptian Exhibition and its story of the discovery of the tomb of Tutankhamun discovered by the 5th Earl of Carnarvon and Howard Carter over 100 years ago. The Exhibition contains antiquities from the earlier tombs in the Valley of the Nobles and Valley of the Queens.

Following your tour, please enjoy some delicious homemade soup, quiches, sandwiches, mini cakes and other seasonal delicacies, before the all-important visit to our Castle Gift Shop, where we are delighted to offer you a complimentary signed copy of Lady Carnarvon’s book "Lady Almina and the Real Downton Abbey".
