Summer Afternoon Guided Castle Tour
Thursday 30th May 2024. 2pm

We are delighted to welcome guests for a special Summer’s Afternoon Guided Tour of Highclere Castle on Thursday 30th May 2024, in aid of St. Michael and All Angels Church, Highclere Village.

Whilst known to millions as the set of the Downton Abbey TV series and films, Highclere retains the warmth and welcome of a much-loved family home.

On this special tour, guests will have the exclusive opportunity to tour the Castle in a small group with one of our knowledgeable guides, to discover the charm of Highclere in an intimate setting.

The guided tour, which will begin at 2:00pm,  will lead you through the State Rooms, Gallery Bedrooms and Staircases so familiar to fans of “Downton Abbey.”

Imagine yourself as the Dowager Lady Grantham in the green Drawing Room or walk down the Oak Staircase just like Lady Mary or Lord Grantham.

You are also invited to discover the Egyptian Exhibition, which celebrates the discovery of the tomb of Tutankhamun by Howard Carter and the 5th Earl of Carnarvon in 1922.

Your tickets will also include a complimentary tea, coffee and biscuit from our Tea Rooms to enjoy after your tour and a copy of Lady Carnarvon’s book, “Lady Almina & The Real Downton Abbey”, which you will collect from the Gift Shop on the day.

The Grounds will open from 1:00pm to allow you to enjoy the Gardens from the White Border by the Secret Garden to the rose arbour and the magnificent cedar trees on the greenest of lawns around the Castle.

You will also have an opportunity to explore the Gardens after your tour.

We very much hope you will take the time to visit the irresistible Gift Shop during your visit.

Tickets are £100 per person which includes a guided tour of the Castle, complimentary tea, coffee and biscuit from our tea room and a signed copy of the Countess of Carnarvon’s book, “Lady Almina & The Real Downton Abbey”.

Carer tickets (1 per paying, registered disabled visitor) and children’s tickets (ages 4 - 16) are also available at £60.

Guests are welcome onsite from 1:00pm. Your guided tour will commence at the front door of the Castle at 2:00pm. The Grounds and Gates will close at 5:00pm.
