A Weekend to Remember. 6/7 September 2025

Please join us to explore life at Highclere Castle between 1939 and 1945.

2025 marks 80 years since the end of World War Two. Come along to listen to a variety of speakers, learn to dance swing, sing along to the 1940s singers and tap your toes to the music. There will be vintage car displays, lawn games and a 'History of Flight' tent detailing the planes and crew which crashed at Highclere.

The Castle will be open for you to tour and explore at your leisure, should you wish, as well as enjoying reenactments from the Second World War on the Castle Lawns, including activities for children.

The day will include:

  • Castle Tours
  • Highclere’s Egyptian Exhibition
  • Vintage Planes
  • Specialist ‘Pop-Up’ Talks
  • Live Vintage Music
  • Vintage Cars
  • Swing Dancing
  • Living History Reenactors
  • Croquet and Badminton on the Castle Lawns
  • Vintage Costume Display
  • Children’s Storytelling and Activities

What vision of the future did our parents and grandparents dream of and what have we done with their hopes? This is a weekend to raise money to support those who serve and those who save in today’s world.

There will be a variety of ticket types on offer for the weekend as well as special tours before or after the event for sponsors and friends.

Maggie Smith, as the much-loved Dowager Countess in Downton Abbey, asked “What is a weekend?”  For this special weekend, we invite you to join us and stand together as neighbours and friends. This is an event created by Lady Carnarvon and her team at Highclere and if you would like to support us with sponsorship, or donate directly to the charities involved, we would be most grateful.

Our team would be delighted to discuss our sponsorship packages for tickets, for special tours and previews or for taking you around to see some of the crash sites where we pay tribute to the airmen. Our hope simply is to support and bring together the past for charities today.
